In 1895 “The Edinburgh Establishment Golf Club Federation” was founded and originally played matches and outings on Edinburgh Public Courses.
It was decided in 1902 by the Council of “The Federation” to take steps to acquire sufficient land for a private course.
After much consideration it was agreed that the ground at Torphin Hill was the most suitable and work began immediately to lay out a course. On Saturday 4th April 1903 the course was formally opened but it was not until December 1905 that the club’s title was officially changed to Torphin Hill Golf Club. |
